As the world’s leading electropolishing specialist and a pioneer of the process, Able Electropolishing’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovation ensures that your metal parts are finished with unmatched quality control and precision.

Our technologically advanced bulk electropolishing process lets you take advantage of the defect-free and corrosion resistant surface finish that electropolishing imparts, with the cost-effectiveness of bulk processing.

Electropolishing provides superior results over standard chemical passivation, but unlike standard “rack” electropolishing, “bulk” electropolishing is performed by placing multiple parts into a basket, which can make it challenging to achieve consistent results across all part surfaces. Able’s automation-enhanced bulk processing incorporates technological improvements that significantly improve the consistency of bulk electropolishing results.

Benefits of Electropolishing for Stainless Steel Fasteners

Metal fasteners, especially those used in critical applications or where maximum corrosion resistance is needed, must be long-lasting and able to withstand years of use. Electropolishing offers many advantages for these applications, including:

  • Enhanced part life
  • Deburring and prevention of galling
  • Significantly improved corrosion resistance
  • Decorative, chrome-like appearance
  • Reduced friction for improved performance

Bulk Electropolishing vs. Rack Electropolishing

If you are considering bulk electropolishing for your fasteners or other small parts, it is important to consider the differences between bulk and rack processing. The bulk process is designed for parts without close tolerances and creates a slight variation in finish quality since, unlike rack processing, parts are not individually contacted with this electrochemical process. Bulk processing works best on parts that are cylindrical and don’t nest since nested areas are shielded from the process which can result in unpolished areas. Lastly, the bulk process is best suited for 300 and 400 series stainless steel.
